Description

"The second, supplemented, edition of the collection presents ethnographic and folklore records collected in 1928-1929 by students of the pedagogical technical school, which at that time worked in the town of Maryinka (Donetsk region). The unique texts contain information about the socio-economic life of the town, descriptions of life cycle rites (wedding, birth, death), youth gatherings and entertainment, children's games, dances, as well as evidence of the daily life of the Urumi Greeks from the surrounding villages. They are a convincing proof that the origins of the cultural wealth of Donetsk region should be sought in the Ukrainian ethnic tradition.

Since the beginning of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the city of Maryinka has heroically defended itself under daily shelling, although the city itself no longer exists as a full-fledged administrative unit - it was completely destroyed by the enemy. This publication is an attempt to preserve and publicize at least a small part of its unique historical and cultural heritage."
