The publication describes the course of the military battle near Khotyn in 1621, its impact on contemporary Europe, and presents the military, political, and historical traditions of all the participants in those events — Ukrainian Cossacks, as well as Lithuanian, Polish, Ottoman, and Tatar soldiers. It also explores how this significant battle was interpreted by its contemporaries.
A key feature of this edition is the publication of images of unique artifacts from the collections of leading Ukrainian museums and archives, as well as documents and graphics from similar institutions in Sweden, Poland, and Turkey. Additionally, the book features, for the first time, the works of leading historical reenactors of Cossack clothing and weaponry from the early 17th century.
For everyone interested in Cossack valor, military history, and the broader history of Ukraine and early modern Europe.
