Professor of Ukrainian history at Harvard University, director of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute of HU. He`s a Winner of the Shevchenko National Prize (Ukraine, 2018), the 2015 Lionel Gelber Prize for the best non-fiction book in English on global issues (for The Last Empire: The Final Days of the Soviet Union), and the 2018 Baillie Gifford Prize (for Chornobyl: History of a Tragedy). Serhii Plokhy is the author of more than 20 books in English, Ukrainian, and Russian languages. His books have been translated into German, Chinese, Belarusian, Polish, Estonian, Spanish, Romanian, and Portuguese.
